Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing and meditative style of yoga designed to calm the nervous system and promote physical, emotional, and mental healing. Unlike more active forms of yoga, restorative classes focus on stillness and gentle support, using props like bolsters, blankets, blocks, and straps to fully support the body in comfortable, passive poses.

Each posture is typically held for an extended period—anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes—without any muscular effort. The goal is not to stretch deeply or build strength, but rather to let go, soften, and allow the body to shift into its natural state of balance. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system (often referred to as the "rest and digest" mode), restorative yoga helps reduce stress, lower heart rate and blood pressure, ease anxiety, improve sleep, and support overall well-being.
